Bishop Lonsdale Primary School children create their well dressing boards.
Ros Langford visited Year 3 pupils on 22nd June to give them an introduction to the history, art and craft of the traditional rural custom of 'well dressing'. A week later on 27th and 28th June, Ros together with two other members of Broughton W.I. - Carol Benbow , and Sheila Moulton helped the pupils to complete 3 well dressing boards with design themes based on the London 2012 Olympics, the Queen's Diamond Jubilee, and the Bishop Lonsdale School insignia. The students worked really hard and developed their skills in adding wool and plant material to the wet clay to create the designs. Their work in progress can be seen in the slide-show on page 6, 'A Community Project'.
