Hundreds of people visited the 2013 Croxton Well Dressing event on a very sunny Saturday 6th July

30th June: Preparation for the 'well dressing - in the making'.
Then the hard job of packing the clay into the 5 large frames was undertaken by Ken and Tim Langford. This takes about 3 hours.
The design was laid over the clay and pricked out through the paper using a dart. When the paper template was removed the dots were joined up ready for the dried materials to be added.

Croxton Well Dressing Festival 2013
The festivities started at 11.30 a.m. The Eccleshall Scouts cooked up tasty bacon baps, sausages and burgers on their BBQ, and the Tern Valley Tinkers helped to get everyone in the mood with their folk music. There was a range of activities in the Millennium Wood opposite including displays of traditional woodcraft by Gareth Pugh (Forest of Mercia), Wool Spinning, flyfishing bait-craft, and the Turner Hodgkiss Nature Reserve. There were stalls by the local Garden Guild and 'A Farmer's daughter' Helen Thompstone, selling her beautiful cards and gifts. Later, you could join in with the Beggars Oak Clog dancers, as well as learn the art of maypole dancing. The theme chosen for this year’s main well dressing at Boughey’s Well was ‘The Countryside Code, and there was four other well dressings for visitors to view along the wells trail, including one made by the pupils of the Hugo Meynell School in Loggerheads, and another made by the children from the hamlet of Woodwall Green. Refreshments were served in St. Paul’s Church, Croxton, where a packed audience enjoyed a concert of music and poetry from 2.00 – 4.00 p.m. If you were not able to make it to the festivities on 6th July, - you were still be able to see the well dressings as they remained on display around the wells trail for a further 8 days. Pupils from Hugo Meynell school produce a well dressing depicting the school badge and animals that live in the Burnt Wood, Loggerheads.
